The temperature just got cranked up a little more on Paul Kamanga.

Confirmation has come through that he will make his US debut on May 6 in Las Vegas, a day before the Canelo Alvarez-Amir Khan shootout.

Traditionally, the movers and shakers come to town on big-fight weekend and attend both Friday and Saturday shows.

Kamanga will thus be showcased in a major market with the eyes of many influential boxing types on him. The main event will be a 12-round bout for the NABO lightweight title between Petr Petov, the Boxcino champion ranked number four in the world, against WBO fifth-ranked Michael Perez, holder of the NABO belt.

“All eyes will be on Vegas that weekend,” said promoter Rodney Berman, who arranged the bout on the Banner Promotions bill thanks to a decades-long friendship with Art Pelullo. “I have no reservations about Kamanga being the ultimate pro and expect him to do what he must.”

Before then, however, he has the considerable task of getting past Roman Belaev, who is rated higher than him on most rankings lists.

Kamanga’s US opponent will be announced in due course.
