Lennox Lewis protégé Constantino Nanga to fight at Emperors Palace in 2025
Having caught the eye of Lennox Lewis, unbeaten light heavyweight Constantino Nanga’s journey through 2025 will include a stopover at Emperors Palace.
Born in Angola and raised in Sweden, Nanga is among the boxers signed by the new consortium comprised of Lewis’ Lion Promotions, Adriano Sport and Music and Golden Gloves. They will promote and steer the fortunes of the 28-year-old, starting in Saudi Arabia next month when he fights on the Riyadh Season bill headlined by the Artur Beterbiev-Dmitry Bivol rematch.
The self-confessed former football hooligan, who mended his ways when a friend urged him to rather train as a boxer, has been a professional for two years and run up a respectable 12-0 record. He now both lives and trains in Spain where he has fought the majority of his bouts.
Lewis met Nanga several months ago and after watching him, praised his fighting heart.
The plan is now to move him along towards contender status, which will include a July outing in South Africa, not a terribly long way from where he was born.
“Having had [Lewis protégé] Kestna Davis on our last show, these guys add a nice mix to our local scene,” said promoter Rodney Berman. “The plan is to identify these fighters, like Ricardo Malajika and Shervantaigh Koopman, and gain them maximum exposure and get them the fights their talent deserves.”
