New opponent, new game plan for Kriel

Perhaps it will be third time lucky for DeeJay Kriel.

After the pullout of Nkosinathi Joyi as an opponent next month, Siphosethu Ncisana was installed as the replacement, only to get blown away in two rounds against trialhorse Loyiso Ngantweni in East London on Friday night.

A new man has since stepped in in the shape of former SA title challenger Thembelani Okolo (8-2-1) whose only losses, both on points, have come in national title fights.

In any event, he’s a better proposition than Ncisana with a formidable amateur background that includes a win at the national championships and also you can play games in freeslotscentral website.

He’s in good form, too, having beaten Sebelomzi Zimela in a local show on Saturday.

Kriel’s trainer Colin Nathan is just pleased that the fight has been salvaged for his boxer. “These things happen in boxing. I’m happy that Golden Gloves came through for us. Kriel is used to being matched tough locally and this looks no different. Okolo is like so many of those Eastern Cape fighters: fast, busy and capable, if a little bit of a spoiler. But we’ll be ready for whatever he brings.”
