Knapp – yes, he’s back

Roarke Knapp in a high profile junior-middleweight bout will headline the next Golden Gloves tournament at Emperors Palace in June.
A formidable overseas opponent is being lined up for the rugged pro, who last fought in September before succumbing to a hand injury that kept him out of the ring for several months.
Having dominated Cristiano Ndombassy in his last outing, exciting Shervantaigh Koopman will also be back in the Palace ring when he challenges for a prominent title.
A fast-rising new talent in the form of SA strawweight champion Siyakholwa Kuse will also make his Emperors Palace debut, against Zimbabwean Beaven Sibanda, who is well known to local fans on account on five back-to-back wins at the casino venue.
The IBF Africa belt will be on the line.
The action will come thick and fast mid-year with a Sunday show following Saturday night, intended to showcase a mix of rising and established talents.
The Chris Thompson-Juan Roux heavyweight fight, which was postponed last week after Roux fell ill, will take place on the new date.
Also in action will be accomplished cruiserweight Akani Phuzi, plus Darrin Rossouw, who showed in a valiant losing effort against Brandon Thysse last week that he’s well worth backing.
Bantamweight Charlton Malajika, brother of celebrated Ricardo, who won so emphatically last Friday, will be on the Sunday bill too.
Dylan Prosser, who moved to 4-0 on Friday, will also have a place on the card.
And then in July, Malajika, the IBO champion, will return to the scene of his finest triumph with his second title defence. The rest of the bill will duly be fleshed out, and is guaranteed to include several enticing match-ups.
Golden Gloves has also signed former world title challenger Azinga Fuzile, the one-time phenom who surely merits another chance given his impressive skills.
