Cruiser collision the big prize for March 3 winner

Kevin Lerena . . . going all out for cruiserweight supremacy.

As the World Boxing Super Series cruises to an explosive final in the Middle East in May, a door has opened for the winner of next month’s fight between Kevin Lerena and Dmytro Kucher.

Promoter Rodney Berman says that the promoters of the series, the Sauerlands, are mulling the idea of going with the cruiserweights again, in a second edition of the highly successful franchise.

The final will see Dmytro Kucher of Ukraine take of Murat Gassiev of Russia.

“There are so many top cruiserweights around, they see another tournament as a viable option. It’s early days, but they said they’d be willing to look at including the winner of Lerena-Kucher. The winner thus becomes a contender for one of the hottest events around,” said Berman.

Of course, this is a huge incentive for Lerena, who yearns to tangle with the division’s biggest names. He knows full well that a demolition job on Kucher, who has never been stopped, will get him noticed. After that, the potential of being showcased on the WBSS has fantastic appeal and will surely sharpen his focus ahead of the battle at Emperors Palace in 10 days’ time.

There are a handful of tickets still available.
