Ryno up against it
The officials have been confirmed for Ryno Liebenberg’s IBF International championship shot against Vincent Feigenbutz on February 17.
Experienced Massimiliano Bianco, who has officiated throughout Europe, has been handed refereeing duties. Countryman Roberto Rea will act as supervisor for the 12-rounder, which takes place in Ludwigsberg in Germany.
The three judges are Dave Parris (UK), Joerg Milke (Germany) and Holger Wiemann (Germany).
Without suggesting anything underhanded might occur, the composition of the judging panel makes it imperative that the South African leaves nothing to chance. A win via the short route would ensure no hullabaloo.
“It is what it is,” said trainer Colin Nathan. “Ryno has been to Germany and come up short before – we know the odds are stacked against us. It’s fair to say we won’t be relying on the judges.”
Since Feigenbutz’s mandatory defence was due on or before June 3, 2017, this fight has been approved with the condition that the winner must fight the leading available contender in a mandatory defence of the title within 90 days of February 27, 2018.
