Great bets on offer for weekend action

There’s money to be made – if you know your boxing.

World Sports Betting, one of the sponsors of “Hurtin’ for Certain”, has posted odds for this weekend’s championship tournament at Emperors Palace.

In the main fight, cruiserweight Johnny Muller has been made a marginal favourite with odds of 8/10 available on a win over Thabiso Mchunu, who is priced at 9/10 for the win.

A draw can be had at 16/1.

Meanwhile, SA welterweight champion Thulani Mbenge is a prohibitive favourite over Jay Inson of the Philippines at 4/10 for the win. Inson is a steep 17/10, which may be a shrewd bet given that he is rated number 15 by the WBO and is coming off a career-best win in Japan.

Odds for a draw are 20/1.

IBO strawweight champion Simphiwe Konkco is also a heavy favourite (1/3) with Lito Dante of the Philippines priced at 19/10 for the win. A draw is seemingly a long shot – 20/1.

Lee Dyer, the SA super-middleweight champion, is also a hot favourite. He’s listed at 6/10 to defeat Alfonso Tissen, who is himself priced at 12/10. They’re at 20/1 for a draw.

These are generous odds for Dyer. Tissen comes to fight and will feel at home at Emperors where he has enjoyed a number of successes.
