New opponent for Studdard
Rofhiwa Nemushungwa is the new opponent for Joshua Studdard on December’s Christmas Cracker tournament as his previous opponent (Lemogang Mapitsi) has been offered a SA title shot.
Golden Gloves and African Ring, the promoters, agreed not to stand in Mapitsi’s way.
Nemushungwa is from the Alan Toweel stable in Joburg and is known to be a tough customer.
The promoters are awaiting word on whether the Gauteng title will be on the line. If not, it will be a 10-rounder that tops the exciting fight card.
Studdard (8-1), a pro for five years, needs to get a move on if he is to make a significant impact in the bantamweight division.
Meanwhile, unbeaten Rowan Campbell will fight Jackson Masamba at super-middleweight. Masamba, from DRC, is 1-1-1 as a pro.
And Johnny Muller goes in against DRC’s Kozanga Mwanza Youssef (7-2-1) who upset George Tshimanga in his last fight. He ought to be a stern test for Muller, who must put on a show to atone for his last effort against Thabiso Mchunu.
The action takes place December 4.
