The fans have spoken.
In an informal poll held on the site late this week, cruiserweight contender Kevin Lerena dominated fans’ votes as SA’s best boxer.
Almost 1000 fans cast their votes with Lerena scooping the lion’s share (411) with Hekkie Budler in second place (359). Zolani Tete ended in third spot with others like Tommy Oosthuizen and Xolisani Ndongeni also featuring in the mix.
“It wasn’t scientific, but I think it also reflected who the fans enjoy watching,” said promoter Rodney Berman. “You could argue for days about who is the best, or who might beat whom. It’s all fun and adds to the vibrancy of our sport.”
