Golden Gloves is preparing for a major press conference, to be held at SuperSport on May 11.
Promoter Rodney Berman says the conference will officially launch the “Night of Reckoning” tournament at Emperors Palace on June 11.
Details are still under wraps, but we do know that Simphiwe Khonco will fight Siyabonga Siyo for the vacant IBO light-flyweight title, plus there will be the Super Four cruiserweight contest.
Presumably the undercard will showcase some of the country’s best up-and-coming talent, which Golden Gloves and African Ring have done so successfully in the past two years.
“It will be a big gathering of boxers, personalities and media,” said Berman. “The buzz is back and we want to capitalise on that.”
