“Prospects at the Palace III” is in the works with July 24 at Emperors Palace the place to be.
Promoters Rodney Berman and Jeff Ellis have discovered a winning formula and plan to stick with it as their plans take shape for the third edition of the popular event.
Former SA junior-welterweight champion Grant Fourie heads the card in an eight-rounder. Fourie is a crowd-pleaser and one of the favourites at the casino venue where there is a premium on Sunday family entertainment for fight fans.
DeeJay Kriel also steps out at his second home and will be seeking his ninth win from 11 fights at minimumweight.
Two of Sean Smith’s protegés will also feature: flashy welterweight Thulani Mbenge – who has five KO’s in as many fights – and light-heavyweight Chaz Wasserman, a former MMA fighter now trying his hand at boxing.
Joshua Studdard’s boxing education continues at breakneck speed and he will fight on the card, a six-round bout in a new weight division (featherweight).
Other prospects getting an outing include exciting Lucky Mongebane, Sterling Shaw and Nico van der Merwe, a junior-middleweight who excites veteran trainer Harold Volbrecht.
Golden ringside tickets will be on sale, which include a sumptuous Emperors buffet, while unreserved seating costs R150.
