The Pugilist Specialist: Championing Young Boxing Talent

It’s now 50 years since Rumble in the Jungle, perhaps the single greatest event in boxing history, and I’m proud to also build my own legacy in Africa.

As undisputed world heavyweight champion, I was honoured to defend my belts, in South Africa, over two decades ago, in front of ‘Madiba’. On my last visit to Emperor’s Palace, in November 2023, the reception from South African fans, the Peermont Group and the Golden Gloves team was warm and genuine. Last year, I witnessed a great showcase of young African boxing talent and I am looking forward to a similar experience when I return on 6th December. Creating opportunities to develop young talent is something that is close to my heart and through my League of Champions (LOC) Foundation I seek to empower youth by using boxing to teach discipline, fitness, resilience and other life skills.

Given that Rodney Berman and I share a vision to mentor and nurture young boxing talent, I am proud to be ringside on December 6th 2024 to witness Kestna Davis, a graduate of the Lennox Lewis (LOC) Foundation, fight at Super middleweight at Emperor’s Palace along with other exciting young talent.

Looking forward to joining you at Emperor’s Palace for an exciting showcase of young boxing talent. See you there!
