Proud prospects to power on at the Palace
There’s only one place to be on Sunday if you’re a boxing fan.
The action will be at Emperors Palace where the second long-awaited “Prospects at the Palace” tournament will be hosted.
Ten fights featuring 20 eager and hungry young boxers will take place, starting at 2.30pm.
Given how the last such event went down, it’s a winning formula. Four-rounders give little option but to throw leather furiously. There’s little chance for boxers to find their rhythm with a premium on fast and heavy hitting.
“The last show was a cracker,” said co-promoter Jeff Ellis. “Many of the boxers, like Lucky Mongebane, Joshua Studdard and DeeJay Kriel, are back again, which assures fans of an exciting day out.”
In a novel change, “family” will be the theme of the day with a jumping castle plus hot dogs and popcorn for the little ones, who won’t have to pay to attend the tournament if they are under-12.
Adding to the excitement is a skipping competition, which anyone can enter (entrants must bring their own skipping rope).
Sunday’s line-up:
Nyeselani Thamabega v Sihle Lelwane (junior-flyweight).
Jeffrey Magagane v Stanley Motsweyane (welterweight).
