Asked to predict the winning bids for select items auctioned at the “Reach for the Stars” event at Emperors Palace on Friday, two people came closest.
The framed and signed gloves of Gennady Golovkin, cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and heavyweight king Anthony Joshua were picked up for R30 000. And the framed and signed gloves of the Klitschko brothers and the late Corrie Sanders picked up a handy R20 000.
Although Dewaldt Tjoepa Veldman gave individual totals, his accumulated amount for the first item was R29 500.
Vanessa Reed du Preez came closest to the R20 000 Klitschko/Sanders item, predicting a R25 000 haul.
The winners, who each receive a pair of tickets to “Call to Glory” at Emperors Palace on September 1, must contact Jeff Ellis (afriring@tiscali.co.za) to redeem their prize.
