Super Four – part two – roars back!
Plans are afoot to stage another Super Four cruiserweight contest, starting at Emperors Palace in October.
Revealing the news, promoter Rodney Berman said that the inaugural event, won by Kevin Lerena in 2016, had been so successful, he wanted to repeat the project.
As the reigning champion, Lerena would be the only 2016 participant to take part again.
Berman has already reached out to a number of fighters, among them world-rated Issa Akervayev (18-0) from Kazakhstan and Ismayl Silakh (25-3) of Ukraine, who has been in with Sergey Kovalev and Denis Grachev.
He is also scouting around Europe and South America for additional cruiserweights.
Boxers would be paid $15 000 for the elimination round in August. The final in October would be for a 70/30 purse split of $125 000.
Last year, Lerena swept the boards as he outpointed Roberto Bolonti and pre-event favourite Micki Nielsen to claim top honours.
