Golden Gloves signs women’s phenom

Fast-rising women’s boxer Simamkele Tuntsheni is the latest top talent to sign for Golden Gloves.

Fresh off her most recent win, a dominant performance against unbeaten Caleigh Swart, the Western Cape star will make a return to Emperors Palace in early 2026 as she seeks to build on her 8-0 record.

“I believe she can be a special talent,” said Rodney Berman, who was ringside for her last fight and came away impressed. “She has real class.”

He recently spoke to Matt Leisching, her manager, about projecting her towards an IBO lightweight shot as she’s already rated 15th.
The immediate plan is to schedule her for the first Golden Gloves tournament of next year and build on her excellent foundation.
Said Berman: “I’m very impressed with her potential and Golden Gloves will guide her to an ultimate world title. However, she needs more experience and I’ll make sure her talent is fully rewarded.”

The part-time fire fighter was outstanding against Swart, mixing up her shots, setting a fast pace and keeping a tight defence. Her composure and all-round game already mark her as a fighter on the up. With Golden Gloves’ direction, she couldn’t be better placed.
